About Self Care Counselling

Self Care Counselling is about encouraging individuals to take the first step towards a more balanced and fulfilling life. Essentially we are all responsible for our self care and are capable of making a difference in our own lives.

My Philosophy

My philosophy is that we are all unique and therefore we are the true experts on ourselves. I believe we can all be trusted to find our own way through our problems, anxieties and life crises if we are listened to. No matter where you come from or what you have been through, everyone deserves to be heard. We all have our own story and we all carry things from our past experiences without realising the effects it may have on our current relationships and in our lives. Embarking on a new journey of self reflection and change can enhance self awareness, which may bring upon new perspective and clarity. Working through our past or current experiences can help us understand our thoughts, feelings and emotions and why we may act/react in certain ways thus helping us gain meaningful insight into ourselves and our behaviour. Essentially, my mission is to help you along your journey, implementing ways to help you live a more authentic life and to make sure you feel heard and supported throughout the process.

Zeinab ~ Founder of Self Care Counselling

Zeinab is a qualified therapist who completed her degree in Counselling, Psychotherapy and Human Change at the Jansen Newman Institute. She is also a member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) which is Australia’s largest single registration body for Counsellors and Psychotherapists with over 3,000 members. ACA serves a crucial role in advocating and advancing the profession of counselling and psychotherapy.

Zeinab has established her own practice in the heart of Westmead and is dedicated in reaching out and helping those in need. Zeinab is trained in several modalities providing her clients with an extensive range of techniques and approaches to individualise the needs of each of her clients. This makes your therapy experience unique, as it  specifically aims to suit your requirements and style of counselling. Some of these modalities include:

Zeinab is also a mother of 4 children and is extremely passionate about working with mothers in Prenatal and Postnatal care.

She spent an entire year volunteering in a mentoring program for young mothers through the Raise Foundation. Essentially, this program involved providing support and care for mothers as well as teaching them life skills. It also helped mothers to re-discover themselves, their goals and their dreams.

Through her own experience of having children, Zeinab recognised the lack of support and education there was for mothers around prenatal and postnatal depression. That is why Zeinab specifically designed a program for mothers with Post Natal Depression and is in the process of creating other groups that the community may benefit from.

This amazing program aims to create awareness as well as educating and supporting women with post natal depression, giving them an opportunity to work through their challenges in a safe and non-judgmental environment.
